Manual Diastasis Therapy
Greek word diastasis means gap.
During pregnancy, as the baby grows, the stomach also increases, and for this the rectus muscle has to diverge and move to the sides to create more space for the baby.
Diastasis not only changes a woman's appearance in the abdominal area, but it also affects posture, digestion, organ support, pelvic floor muscles, diaphragm, and also self-confidence and the overall feeling of well-being in the body.
Already during pregnancy, diastasis occurs in many women and quite often remains after childbirth. The more active a woman has been during pregnancy, the easier the diastasis will close by itself, but if this does not happen, there should be a professional help.
I use German midwife and a physiotherapist Angela Heller's method to close the diastasis.
Manual diastasis therapy is done manually with hands, supported by physiological breathing. In addition, an individual series of exercises are given to be done consistently and correctly to strengthen the core muscles to close the diastasis.
First session €50
Follow-up €40
* Extra 15€ is added to the home visit
** If you cancel the appointment less than 24 hours before, you still have to pay in full for the session.
HOW TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS DIASTASIS:
-
The belly is loose even several months after giving birth
-
In the evening, the "pregnant belly" comes back
-
When you raise your head in the supine position, a cone forms on your stomach
-
Being on all fours, you can't keep your stomach in
-
Even when exercising, the stomach does not take its original shape
-
When running or exercising, there is a "aloof" feeling in the stomach area
-
Lower back pain
-
Bladder incontinence
-
Uterine prolapse
-
Breathing difficulties
-
Lack of motivation and passion and powerlessness (related to the solar plexus)
The speed of diastasis closure depends on the woman herself, the size of the diastasis and the strength of her muscles. With each manual closure, the diastasis closes as much as the body currently allows. It is also important to do exercises independently and consistently for a good result and complete closure.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE MEETING:
-
I will explain what diastasis is, how it affects the body and what are the associated risks
-
I explain the functions of the core muscles and help the woman find them in her own body
-
I will tell you what to do and what not to do on a daily basis
-
I measure the size of the diastasis
-
I teach physiological breathing and core muscle activation
-
I help to close the diastasis manually as much as possible at the moment
-
I give the woman exercises suitable for her body for further independent work
-
At the follow-up meetings, I re-evaluate progress, perform manual closure and give new exercises
It is definitely not an easy-fix method. In order to strengthen the deep and rectus muscles and get rid of diastasis, you have to work consistently and at the same time monitor your daily activities, such as posture and lifting the child, so as not to overexert your body.
